All staff employed by the Anthony Toby Homes Trust have considerable experience in supporting people with learning disabilities, and are encouraged to undertake further professional training. ATHT is an associate member of the Reading Assessment Centre for NVQs in care. All staff, including the homes Manager and Deputy, work directly with residents in all personal skills, hence keeping in close touch with the wants and needs of each person through constant interaction.
To enable each resident to achieve the highest possible quality of life, a sensitive balance between informal and professional support is needed. Residents have easy access to whatever external professional services they require, as there are close links between the homes and healthcare services, including psychology, speech therapy, chiropody and so on. Other specialist services can be accessed via the Wokingham community team for people with learning disabilities.
