The Anthony Toby Homes Trust was founded in
1975 by a group of professionals and interested people to support people with
learning disabilities and their families in the Bracknell and Wokingham area.
Initially,
the Trust provided holiday accommodation and social
activitities and was also a source of advice and help. In
1987, the Trust moved into the field of residential care, and initially supported a group of 12 people relocating from hospital. Since then the service has been further developed to suit the requirements of residents and their families.
Any prospective resident is offered a lengthy introduction to the home. The first few visits are on a casual basis for a chat with residents and staff over a cup of tea or a meal. When further interest is expressed, an introductory programme is arranged which includes several overnight stays, social activities, and opportunity to become familiar with the local area and community facilities.
It is essential that anyone moving to the residential service provided by ATHT should be 100% happy with this decision, and should feel comfortable with the environment, with the company of residents and staff, and with the suggested care plan.
